Roger L. Bookwalter, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Bookwalter has provided orthodontic care to families in Plymouth since 1977. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University and Ohio State University Dental School. After serving two years as Lieutenant in the Navy Dental Corps, he came to the University of Michigan for post-graduate work and received his Master’s degree in Orthodontics in June of 1977.Dr. Bookwalter is an Associate Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Michigan, where he supervises patient treatment by the residents and participates in seminar and course work in bio-mechanics, diagnosis and treatment planning, and practice management. He has served as an officer in the Michigan Association of Orthodontists and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Bookwalter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and has lectured on and published clinical research material. Dr. Bookwalter is married and has two adult children and four grandsons. He has recently retired from the practice, but his hard work and expertise have helped Plymouth Orthodonics become what it is today.

Cynthia L. Fee, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Fee completed her orthodontic residency at University of Michigan and joined the practice in 1994. She also attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate studies in Biology as well as receiving her graduate Dental and Master’s degrees in 1987, 1991 and 1994, respectively.

Dr. Fee has been honored by the American Association of Orthodontists as the recipient of their award for Excellence in Orthodontics and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Michigan and has been honored to be an Orthodontic Board Examiner for the State of Michigan. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Michigan Association of Orthodontists, as well as the Detroit District Dental Society, for which she is a previous five-year board member. Dr. Fee has also been involved in developing and is a consultant to the SISU mouthguard company with Akervall Technologies.

In her free time, Dr. Fee enjoys spending time with her husband and three children in their school and related activities, as well as spending time together in favorite spots in northern Michigan. She enjoys the arts and being creative, being outdoors, skiing, snowboarding and tennis!

Nicole S. Wright, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Wright completed her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She continued her education at the University of Michigan, graduating with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery and then completing an additional three-year residency to receive her Master’s degree in Orthodontics. She joined the practice upon completion of her residency in 2000.

Dr. Wright is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, the Michigan Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association. She has been an active member of the Detroit District Dental Society, serving several years on the board. She was also elected to the board of the Michigan Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Wright has been a guest lecturer and clinical instructor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Dr. Wright and her husband, Andy, have four children, Gavin, Libby, Kate and Charlotte. When she is not in the office, she keeps busy with various school activities, sporting events, and generally being a mom. She also enjoys traveling with her family to her hometown of Traverse City.

Nic Shirey, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Shirey completed his undergrad education from Lebanon Valley College, were he received his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and was a four-year participant on the football team. He earned his DMD degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine in May 2015. He spent the next four years in Norfolk, VA serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Dental Corp. Dr. Shirey went on to complete his orthodontic residency at University of Michigan and was one of Dr. Bookwalter’s favorite students. He joined the practice in June of 2022, and Plymouth Orthodontics is extremely happy to have him as a part of the team.Outside of his professional activities, Nic enjoys traveling, Michigan football, historical non-fiction, and spending time with his wife Angie and their two daughters.

All of our doctors at Plymouth Orthodontics are proud to support the community and various organizations including athletic teams, music programs, and school sponsored activities. They enjoy sharing their love of orthodontics by volunteering for mentoring programs and going into schools to talk about their profession.
